Project 30: 30 Days to Connect and Grow Through Prayer

Freedom is spending the month of January praying and seeking the heart of God through fasting (you can find a podcast regarding this topic on our website under "resources".).

We're calling it Project 30. It will culminate in the 24 Hour Prayer Flood on January 28-29...which is amazing. People sign up for time slots during the allotted 24 hours and then spend that time at the church praying for our community, friends and family.

I am copying a great deal of this from the distribution piece my husband put together for the church. I particularly like this:

"Sometimes in life we have moments that can define us to be the best we can be. Sometimes those moments can stir our hearts so intensely that we begin to live with more purpose, passion and awareness of the presence of God in our lives.

That is when a moment becomes a movement. A movement is when a person lives beyond the experience and understands the ongoing workings of the One who created it.

As you begin to pray and seek the heart of the Lord for your life, our church and the community, I hope that this will bring a greater awareness of God's presence, and a greater awareness of God telling His story through you..."

Preparing Spiritually

Begin by confessing your sins to God and asking the Holy Spirit to reveal areas of weakness. Forgive all who have offended you and ask forgiveness from those who you have have offended (Mark 11:25; Luke 11:4; 17:3-4). Surrender your life fully to Jesus and reject those desires that hinder you (Romans 12:1-2). Trust the Holy Spirit's power to help you fast.

Types of Fasting

The type of fast you choose is between you and God, depending on your physical ability. He will honor your best. You may want to use a combination of fasts.

FULL FAST: Drink only liquids (you determine the number of days). Consult your physician first.

DANIEL FAST: Eat no meats, sweets or rich foods. Drink water and juice and eat fruits and vegetables.

THREE DAY FAST: This can be any type of fast or sacrifice of something other than food.

PARTIAL FAST: Fast from sunup to sundown or one meal per day.

FAST OF SACRIFICE: Give up TV, radio, iPod, etc - anything that would be a personal sacrifice for you.

General Prayer Guide for Project 30:

Monday|Personal Cleansing

Tuesday|Freedom Christian
Pray for vision for pastoral leadership and an awakening in our hearts toward God's desire to use us and work through us.

Wednesday|The Harvest
Pray that God will bring those who do not yet know Jesus Christ through the doors of our church. Pray that we will have influence throughout our community.

Thursday|Church Family Needs
Pray for financial stability, freedom from debt and blessings on the jobs for those who work hard. Pray for the physical, spiritual and relational health for the families of our church and for a new sense of purpose in lives.

Friday|Youth and Children of Freedom
Pray that this generation will see and experience an authentic outpouring of the Holy Spirit in their lives.

Throughout the month, I'll be periodically checking in to post any thoughts and ideas I get through prayer, reading the word and fasting this month! I hope you'll join me...
